 SERVICES FOR SHOOTING VICTIMS -

 Funeral services begin today for the victims of the deadly shooting in Geeseytown, Blair County.  Three people and the gunman … Jeffrey Michael … died in the incident.  Friends of the shooter say that he had been struggling with personal problems and was fascinated with end of the world predictions.  The Blair County D.A. has ruled the police shooting of the gunman was justified.

SANDUSKY MAINTAINS INNOCENCE –

 FORMER PENN STATE ASSISTANT FOOTBALL COACH JERRY SANDUSKY STILL SAYS HE’S INNOCENT OF CHILD SEX ABUSE CHARGES BUT IS “TRYING TO LEARN FROM HIS CIRCUMSTANCE”. SANDUSKY SENT A HAND-WRITTEN NOTE TO THE  WILKES-BARRE “CITIZENS VOICE” TO DELCINE AN INTERVIEW REQUEST. HE TOLD THE PAPER HIS LAWYERS RECOMMENDED THAT HE NOT GRANT THE INTERVIEW AS THEY FOCUS ON HIS UPCOMING APPEAL. A HEARING IS SCHEDULED ON JANUARY 10TH IN BELLEFONTE ON HIS POST-TRIAL MOTIONS, THE FIRST STEP IN SANDUSKY’S APPEALS PROCESS.

LESS THAN A WEEK TO AVOID “FISCAL CLIFF” –

Capitol Hill and the White House will have less than a week to keep the U.S. economy from going over the fiscal cliff.  Members of Congress and President Obama are scheduled to return from their Christmas break on December 27th.  That will give them just four days to come up with a deal to head off a combination of significant tax increases and deep budget cuts, scheduled to kick in on New Year's Day.  

 SNOWBOARDER FALLS FROM LIFT -

15-YEAR-OLD SNOWBOARDER IS RECOVERING, AFTER FALLING FROM A CHAIRLIFT IN SOMERSET COUNTY. THE UNIDENTIFIED BOY FROM SLEEPY HOLLOW, NEW YORK REPORTEDLY FAILED TO LOWER THE SAFETY BAR SATURDAY NIGHT AT HIDDEN VALLEY RESORT.  AFTER LEANING FORWARD, HE FELL ABOUT 20-FEET AND WAS TAKEN TO A HOSPITAL BY AMBULANCE AS A PRECAUTIONARY MEASURE.

 GAS PRICES FALL -

 Motorists are getting a big Christmas gift at the pump.  The latest Lundberg Survey shows the average price for a gallon of regular gas in the U.S. slid more than ten cents over the past two weeks, reaching their lowest level in over a year.   Gas prices averaged $3.25  a gallon on December 21st. 

TIPS FOR A MEMORABLE CHRISTMAS –

Family and relations experts have some suggestions for making this Christmas more memorable.
