SCHOOL BOMB THREATS

A 3RD BOMB THREAT IN THE PHILIPSBURG OSCEOLA SCHOOL DISTRICT THURSDAY…AND NOW A 14-YEAR-OLD BOY IS FACING CHARGES. POLICE SAY A STUDENT TOLD THE MIDDLE SCHOOL PRINCIPAL HE FOUND A NOTE ON NOTEBOOK PAPER WRITTEN IN PENCIL IN A BATHROOM THAT SAID “I’M GONNA BLOW UP THIS PLACE AT 1:15.” SCHOOL OFFICIALS ANALYZED THE HANDWRITING AND CAME UP WITH A SUSPECT WHO CONFESSED. IT’S NOT CLEAR IF HE IS ALSO A SUSPECT IN TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY’S BOMB THREATS AT THE SENIOR HIGH. BOTH DAYS, THE BUILDING HAD TO BE EVACUATED AND SEARCHED BY BOMB-SNIFFING DOGS. THE STUDENT IS FACING CRIMINAL CHARGES THROUGH CLEARFIELD COUNTY JUVENILE PROBATION.

WILDFIRES IN CENTRE COUNTY

CENTRE COUNTY FIREFIGHTERS BATTLED WILDFIRES IN BOGGS TOWNSHIP AND WALKER TOWNSHIP. THE FIRST BLAZE BROKE OUT OFF MOOSE RUN ROAD AROUND 10AM. MORE THAN 10 ACRES, BENEATH A SET OF POWER LINES, BURNED FOR HOURS. THE SECOND FIRE STARTED ALONG WALIZER ROAD AND EMERGENCY PERSONNEL CALL IT A “LARGE FIELD FIRE.”

HEARING POSTPONED FOR ACCUSED ARSONIST

A PRELIMINARY HEARING FOR 23-YEAR-OLD BRYAN FLICKINGER OF CLAYSBURG HAS BEEN POSTPONED UNTIL MAY 22ND. HE’S CHARGED WITH STARTING A FIRE LAST WEEK THAT DESTROYED SEVERAL UNITS AT THE GREENFIELD APARTMENTS. AUTHORITIES ALSO BELIEVE HE IS RESPONSIBLE FOR A BARN FIRE ON SKI GAP ROAD THE NIGHT BEFORE, AND POLICE SAY 3 FIRES WERE STARTED AT THE HOUSE WHERE FLICKINGER USED TO LIVE.

TROOPER KILLS DOG

ELLEN WHITED OF GALLITZIN TELLS THE ALTOONA MIRROR THAT A STATE POLICE TROOPER SHOT AND KILLED A BLACK LAB MIX SUNDAY AFTERNOON ALONG ROUTE 36. WHITED SAYS SHE PULLED OVER BECAUSE THE DOG LOOKED LIKE HERS. ONE COP ALLEGEDLY THREATENED TO ARREST HER IF SHE DIDN’T LEAVE…THEN HE SHOT THE DOG. WHITED CLAIMS THEY WHIPPED IT OVER IN THE BUSHES. STATE POLICE LATER TOLD WHITED THE DOG WAS AGGRESSIVE AND TURNED ON THE OFFICER AND HE HAD TO SHOOT IT BECAUSE THERE WAS A VISIBLE WOUND. WHITED RETRIEVED THE BODY…WHICH SHE SAYS HAS NO WOUNDS OTHER THAN A BULLET HOLE…AND SHE IS HOPING TO TRACK DOWN THE OWNER.

ETHNIC INTIMIDATION IN MOUNT UNION

EASTER WEEKEND PATROLS

STATE TROOPERS ARE PLANNING TO BE OUT AND ABOUT OVER THE EASTER HOLIDAY DRIVING PERIOD. THEY WILL BE INCREASING PATROLS AND CONDUCTING TRAFFIC ENFORCEMENT DETAILS TO FOCUS ON DRUNK DRIVERS, SPEEDERS, AGGRESSIVE DRIVERS, AND THOSE WHO DON’T BUCKLE UP.
