TROOOPER STILL FIGHTING

TROOPER BRADLEY WILSON HAS SUFFERED A SETBACK AS HE RECOVERS AFTER BEING SHOT TWICE BY A SUSPECT IN BROCKWAY, JEFFERSON COUNTY, BACK IN SEPTEMBER. ACCORDING TO FACEBOOK, WILSON HAS BEEN PLACED BACK ON A VENTILATOR AT UPMC PITTSBURGH AND DOCTORS ARE EVALUATING HIS CONDITION. THE SHOOTER COMMITTED SUICIDE AFTER A STAND-OFF WITH POLICE.

GUNFIRE IN ALTOONA

ALTOONA POLICE SAY SHOTS WERE FIRED INTO AN OCCUPIED STRUCTURE ON THE 15-HUNDRED BLOCK OF 15TH STREET ABOUT 2:30 THIS MORNING. NO ONE INSIDE WAS INJURED. ANYONE WITH INFORMATION SHOULD CALL OFFICERS AT 949-24-89 AND PRESS OPTION 1.

FATAL ACCIDENT

A FATAL CRASH IN CLEARFIELD COUNTY THE DAY AFTER CHRISTMAS. STATE POLICE SAY 84 YEAR OLD ROBERT FERGUSON OF MORRISDALE LOST CONTROL OF HIS PICKUP ON A WET DEER CREEK ROAD IN MORRIS TOWNSHIP. THE VEHICLE STRUCK AN EMBANKMENT, THEN A TREE, TRAPPING FERGUSON INSIDE. HE DIED LATER AT UPMC ALTOONA.

INMATE CHARGED WITH AGGRAVATED ASSAULT

BLAIR COUNTY PRISON OFFICIALS TELL THE ALTOONA MIRROR THAT 2 INMATES ARGUED OVER A TV EARLIER THIS MONTH…AND ONE OF THEM IS NOW CHARGED WITH AGGRAVATED ASSAULT. 24 YEAR OLD GERRELL SHEPARD IS ACCUSED OF CONFRONTING THE OTHER MAN IN THE SHOWER AND STOMPING ON HIS HEAD UNTIL HE LOST CONSCIOUSNESS. THE INMATE SUFFERED A BROKEN NOSE, 2 BLACK EYES, AND NEEDED 3 STAPLES TO CLOSE A HEAD WOUND. SHEPARD’S PRELIMINARY HEARING IS SET FOR JANUARY 7TH.

SCARING AWAY THE CROWS

THE CROW PROBLEM CONTINUES IN STATE COLLEGE… AND AGAIN TONIGHT, PUBLIC WORKS CREWS WILL TRY TO SCARE AWAY THE FLOCKS FROM ABOUT 7 UNTIL 9:30. THEY WILL USE PYROTECHNIC “BANGERS AND SCREAMERS” TO FRIGHTEN THE BIRDS AWAY BECAUSE THEY ARE CREATING UNSANITARY AND UNPLEASANT CONDITIONS.

PRIVATIZING LOTTERY?

THE CONTROVERSIAL PROCESS OF PRIVATIZING THE PENNSYLVANIA LOTTERY MAY HAVE TO START OVER. DEMOCRATIC LAWMAKERS ARE WORKING ON LEGISLATION THAT WOULD FORCE GOVERNOR TOM CORBETT’S ADMINISTRATION TO RE-BID THE CURRENT DEAL WITH BRITAIN’S CAMELOT GLOBAL SERVICES. CAMELOT’S BID EXPIRES AT THE END OF THE YEAR AND HAS ALREADY BEEN EXTENDED SEVERAL TIMES.

RAZING UNDERWAY

A CONSTRUCTION CREW HAS BEGUN DEMOLITION WORK ON THE FIRE DAMAGED GARMAN THEATER AND HOTEL DO-DE IN BELLEFONTE. SO FAR, THEY HAVE KNOCKED DOWN A SMALLER BUILDING AT THE BACK OF THE PROPERTY. LARGER-SCALE DEMOLITION SHOULD GET UNDERWAY SOON AS THE DEVELOPER WANTS TO PUT UP AFFORDABLE HOUSING. HE’S STILL WAITING FOR FEDERAL FUNDING HELP.
