ONE DEAD IN CAMBRIA COUNTY

A DEADLY CRASH LAST NIGHT IN JACKSON TOWNSHIP, CAMBRIA COUNTY. POLICE SAY A PITTSBURGH MAN DIED WHEN HIS SPEEDING CAR SLAMMED INTO A TRUCK ALONG ROUTE 22 AROUND 6PM. THE VICTIM WAS PRONOUNCED DEAD AT THE SCENE AND THE BLAIRSVILLE WOMAN DRIVING THE PICKUP WAS TAKEN TO CONEMAUGH MEMORIAL MEDICAL CENTER WITH NON-LIFE-THREATENING INJURIES. TOXICOLOGY TESTS WERE NEGATIVE.

ROBBER PLEADS TO INVOLUNTARY MANSLAUGHTER

20 YEAR OLD KEENAN SNYDER OF JOHNSTOWN YESTERDAY PLEADED GUILTY TO INVOLUNTARY MANSLAUGHTER AND OTHER OFFENSES. SNYDER WAS ROBBING 64-YEAR-OLD ROBERT KUHARCIK IN 2011 WHEN THE VICTIM DIED OF A STRESS-INDUCED HEART ATTACK. KUHARCIK WAS ALSO SUFFERING FROM CANCER AND HAD A VARIETY OF DRUGS IN HIS SYSTEM. SNYDER IS IN THE COUNTY PRISON PENDING SENTENCING.

INJURED IN BAR SHOOTING

A SHOOTING IN CAMBRIA COUNTY. STATE POLICE SAY A SUSPECT OR SUSPECTS FIRED INTO GEORGE’S TAVERN IN DEAN TOWNSHIP FROM OUTSIDE THE BUILDING AROUND 11:30 WEDNESDAY NIGHT. ONE ROUND TRAVELED THROUGH THE WALL AND STRUCK 30-YEAR-OLD ROBERT EDGAR JUNIOR OF COALPORT IN THE HIP AS HE STOOD AT THE BAR. EDGAR WAS TAKEN TO UPMC ALTOONA WITH MODERATE INJURIES AND IS LISTED IN STABLE CONDITION. NO WORD IF A WEAPON WAS RECOVERED.

COP INJURED DURING STRUGGLE

19 YEAR OLD BRANDON BEDNASH OF SCRANTON IS FACING MORE THAN 10 YEARS IN A STATE PRISON FOR ASSAULTING A STATE COLLEGE POLICE OFFICER AFTER LAST SATURDAY’S PENN STATE-MICHIGAN GAME. THE FEMALE OFFICER STOPPED BEDNASH FOR PUBLIC URINATION AND HE ALLEGEDLY FOUGHT WITH THE COP…DRAGGED HER INTO THE STREET…AND TRIED TO RUN AWAY. PEDESTRIANS HELPED THE OFFICER UNTIL A BACKUP UNIT ARRIVED AND SHE IS RECOVERING FROM KNEE AND ELBOW INJURIES. BEDNASH TURNED HIMSELF IN TO AUTHORITIES YESTERDAY. HE’S FREE ON 150-THOUSAND DOLLARS UNSECURED BAIL WITH A PRELIMINARY HEARING SCHEDULED FOR NEXT WEDNESDAY.
