toddler drowns…and teenager missing

a dive team is searching for a teenage boy who jumped into the water near the shawville dam in CLEARFIELD county around 11 last night. according to emergency crews, 3 teenage boys were fishing when they decided to go swimming. one of them never returned to shore.

The Cambria County coroner has confirmed thAT 3-Year-old JORDIN SISCO DROWNED Saturday in A BACKYARD SWIMMING POOL IN the Woodvale neighborhood of Johnstown. THE TODDLER was at a sleepover, when she wandered into the backyard. The adults REALIZED she was MISSING and found her in the above-ground pool. CPR was administered, BUT Jordin died at Memorial Medical Center in Johnstown. heR DEATH has been ruled accidental.

Man dies in Johnstown wreck

A deadLY WRECK IN JOHNSTOWN EARLY SUNDAY MORNING. 44 year-old Jamey Petrick OF WESTMONT died when the car he was riding in struck a tree along Emmett Drive around 1am. The FEMALE driver was taken to the hospital. NO OTHER DETAILS HAVE BEEN RELEASED AS THE INVESTIGATION CONTINUES

ACCUSED KILLER IN CUSTODY

JOHNSTOWN Police SAY 52 YEAR OLD JOHN KUZMA WAS BEATEN TO DEATH WITH A HAMMER FRIDAY AND A SUSPECT IS IN CUSTODY, ALTHOUGH THAT PERSON’S NAME HAS STILL NOT BEEN RELEASED. KUZMA WAS FOUND dead inSIDE a home on the 200 block of Bond Street in the Moxham section of TOWN. HE HAD BEEN hit in the head tWICE.

Contaminated SOIL

department of environmental protection officials are scheduled to be in the gaysport section of hollidaysburg today. last month, test samples taken from a bedford street construction site confirm the presence of petroleum-related chemicals in the soil and groundwater. a department spokeswoman said the levels aren’t deadly, but contact or ingestion wouldn’t be advisable. crews will try to determine the extent of the contamination and begin an investigation into the source. if the source cannot be found, d-e-p will pay to remove and replace the contaminated soil.

UPMC ALTOONA OFFICIALS TELL THE ALTOONA MIRROR THAT LYME DISEASE CASES HAVE JUMPED 160-PERCENT. SYMPTOMS INCLUDE A BULL’S-EYE SHAPED RASH, FLU-LIKE SYMPTOMS, AND SOME FACIAL PARALYSIS. LOCAL DOCTORS HAVE TREATED MORE THAN 80 CASES IN THE PAST 2 MONTHS. LYME DISEAsE IS THE MOST COMMON TICK-BORNE ILLNESS IN THE NORTHERN HEMISPHERE. UPMC BEDFORD MEMORIAL AND TYRONE HOSPITAL ALSO REPORT AN INCREASE IN CASES.

ALTOONA AREA SCHOOL DISTRICT HAS CLOSED WASHINGTON-JEFFERSON AND WRIGHT ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS…AND PARENTS WILL RECEIVE NOTICES THIS WEEK AS TO WHICH NEW SCHOOL THEIR CHILDREN WILL ATTEND STARTING IN A FEW WEEKS. OTHER ELEMENTARY STUDENTS AFFECTED BY BOUNDARY ADJUSTMENTS WILL ALSO BE NOTIFIED OF THEIR NEW SCHOOL ASSIGNMENT.
