CADAVER DOGS SEARCHING
The search continued Wednesday AT A WARRIORS MARK CAMP For the BODY OF 23 YEAR OLD SHERRY LEIGHTY OF ALTOONA who has been missing since 1999. Huntingdon County District Attorney George Zanic saYS cadaver dogs have hit on points of interest, BUT HE SAYS LEIGHTY’S REMAINS HAVE NOT BEEN FOUND AND NO FURTHER UPDATES WILL BE GIVEN UNTIL THEY ARE…OR THE SEARCH CONCLUDES. LEIGHTY’S father-in-law, 65-year old Kenneth Leighty, REPORTEDLY TOLD HIS SON LAST WEEK THAT HE KILLED SHERRY ACCIDENTALLY AND BURIED HER BODY ON THE PROPERTY. HE’S JAILED AFTER ATTACKING POLICE WHO TRIED TO TAKE HIM IN FOR QUESTIONING. LEIGHTY WAIVED HIS PRELIMINARY HEARING YESTERDAY ON CHARGES OF AGGRAVATED ASSAULT ON POLICE OFFICERS.
DEFENSE TAKES OVER
The defense began its case yesterday in the indiana county murder trial of shawn fairman. He’s accused of going to his former home in north Mahoning township last june, despite a p-f-a order from his estranged wife. Police say fairman and his father-in-law exchanged gunshots and 55 year old Richard shotts was killed. Fairman then went upstairs and was SHOT AND WOUNDED BY HIS WIFE, JESSICA. THE Defense WILL TRY TO PROVE THAT Fairman IS not guilty DUE TO a mental infirmity. IN ADDITION, HE WAS LEGALLY INTOXICATED.
THREAT AT LOCAL SCHOOL
Central Cambria High School in Ebensburg IS BRINGING IN POLICE AND TAKING EXTRA PRECAUTIONS AFTER A THREATENING message was found on a wall in A BOYS’ bathroom TUESday. IT MENTIONED a shooting the day before the prom. Principal Kim McDermott saYS a letter was sent home to parents WARNING THEM ABOUT THE SITUATION. Police Are reviewing video surveillance and HOPING TO FIND OUT WHO WROTE THE MESSAGE.
THREATS AT PENN STATE
AT HIS PRELIMINARY HEARING YESTERDAY, AARAO CORNELIO JUNIOR TOOK THE STAND AND MADE A RAMBLING STATEMENT, LEADING PROSECUTORS TO ASK FOR A COMPETENCY EXAM. LAST WEEK, CORNELIO WAS arrested AFTER ALLEGEDLY threatening to shoot people WHEN HE WAS ASKED TO LEAVE THE HUB AT Penn State’S University PARK. Cornelio, WHO insisted on being his own attorney, REMAINS IN THE CENTRE COUNTY PRISON.

An early morning fire YESTERDAY TORE THROUGH “NO PLACE LIKE HOME FURNITURE” IN THE CHESTER HILL SECTION OF Philipsburg. MUCH OF THE CENTER OF THE BUILDING IS DAMAGED AND PORTIONS OF THE ROOF ARE SAGGING. DAMAGE IS ESTIMATED AT 1-MILLION DOLLARS. A STATE POLICE fire marshal will investigate THE CAUSE. firefighters were called to that SAME building EARLIER THIS YEAR FOR AN ELECTRICAL FIRE.
A HUGe fire destroyED LAUREL MOUNTAIN STRUCTURES WAREHOUSE ALONG ROUTE 22 IN EBENSBURG. THE BLAZE BROKE OUT around 6:30. AND THE BUILDING CONTAINED MOSTLY WOOD AND TOOLS. no one was hurt.

CONGRESSMAN BILL SHUSTER IS UPSET WITH THE FEDERAL FURLOUGHS AFFECTING AIR TRAFFIC CONTROLLERS AND CAUSING MAJOR TRAVEL DELAYS. at A House Appropriations Committee Hearing YESTERDAY, SHUSTER BLAMED THE F-A-A AND THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION. HE SAYS “THIs administration is implementing sequestration to cause the most pain on the traveling public that it possibly can.”
