ALTOONA METH LAB

YESTERDAY MORNING, ALTOONA POLICE AND STATE DRUG AGENTS RAIDED A METH LAB AT A HOUSE AT 127 NORTH 5TH AVENUE. OFFICERS WERE CALLED TO THE SCENE AROUND 7AM FOR A DOMESTIC DISTURBANCE. 32 YEAR OLD SCOTT PERKINS, HIS SISTER 33 YEAR OLD MISTY PERKINS, AND HER EX-BOYFRIEND 34 YEAR OLD PHILIP SHULTZ ARE NOW IN THE BLAIR COUNTY PRISON, CHARGED WITH MANUFACTURING METH. POLICE SPOTTED THE 2 MEN RUNNING INTO THE GARAGE AS THEY ARRIVED. SHULTZ WAS ALREADY ON PROBATION FOR SIMILAR DRUG CHARGES.

SHOTS FIRED INTO POLICE CRUISER

JURY SELECTION IS SCHEDULED TO BEGIN TODAY FOR THE ATTEMPTED HOMICIDE TRIAL OF 46 YEAR OLD KEVIN MCGEE OF JOHNSTOWN. HE IS ACCUSED OF FIRING SHOTS INTO AN EMPTY RICHLAND TOWNSHIP POLICE CRUISER IN 2012. LAST WEEK, THE JUDGE AGREED TO ALLOW MCGEE TO REPRESENT HIMSELF AT HIS TRIAL.

FIREFIGHTER CHARGED WITH ARSON

GLEN HOPE VOLUNTEER FIREFIGHTER NATHANIAL MOSTOLLER OF MADERA IS IN THE CLEARFIELD COUNTY JAIL, CHARGED WITH STARTING 2 FIRES AT A BUILDING ON GLEN HOPE BOULEVARD BACK IN DECEMBER 2013. NO ONE WAS INJURED IN THE BLAZES. THE 24 YEAR OLD MOSTOLLER IS ALSO CHARGED WITH RECKLESS ENDANGERMENT, BURGLARY, AND RELATED COUNTS. BAIL IS SET AT 25-THOUSAND DOLLARS.

FIRE CHIEF’S VEHICLE STOLEN & WRECKED

34-YEAR-OLD JASON WENRICK OF BELLEFONTE IS NOW IN THE CENTRE COUNTY PRISON…AND POLICE SAY HE’S THE ONE WHO STOLE AN EMERGENCY VEHICLE FROM THE BELLEFONTE BORO FIRE CHIEF LAST WEEKEND. HE WENT JOY-RIDING…THEN THE VEHICLE WAS CRASHED SUNDAY MORNING ALONG GARBRICK ROAD IN SPRING TOWNSHIP. WENRICK’S BAIL IS 100-THOUSAND DOLLARS AND HIS PRELIMINARY HEARING IS SET FOR APRIL 16TH.

CAMPUS CRIME SPREE

PENN STATE POLICE SAY THEY HAVE CONNECTED A STRING OF BURGLARIES AT WOLF HALL DORMITORY. BETWEEN SEPTEMBER 2013 AND THIS MONTH, VICTIMS REPORTED PERSONAL BELONGINGS BEING TAKEN FROM UNLOCKED ROOMS. POLICE HAVE NOT IDENTIFIED SUSPECTS AND THEY ARE ADVISING STUDENTS TO KEEP DOORS AND WINDOWS LOCKED, REPORT BROKEN LOCKS AND LATCHES TO MAINTENANCE PERSONELL, AND IMMEDIATELY REPORT ALL SUSPICIOUS PERSONS, VEHICLES AND ACTIVITIES TO UNIVERSITY POLICE. ANYONE WITH INFORMATION COULD BE ELIGIBLE FOR A REWARD THROUGH CENTRE COUNTY CRIMESTOPPERS.

SANDUSKY SCANDAL

WITHOUT SAYING WHY, PENNSYLVANIA’S SUPREME COURT HAS DECIDED NOT TO REVIEW THE CONVICTION OF FORMER PENN STATE COACH JERRY SANDUSKY WHO IS SERVING 30 TO 60 YEARS IN A STATE PRISON. ATTORNEY GENERAL KATHLEEN KANE RELEASED A STATEMENT WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON SAYING – QUOTE “WE ARE VERY PLEASED WITH THE SUPREME COURT’S DECISION. PROTECTING PENNSYLVANIA’S CHILDREN IS ONE OF MY TOP PRIORITIES AND I REMAIN COMMITTED TO SEEKING JUSTICE FOR ALL VICTIMS OF SEXUAL ABUSE.”

ACCORDING TO COURT PAPERS FILED THIS WEEK, STATE ATTORNEY GENERAL KATHLEEN KANE IS FIGHTING A REQUEST FOR AN INJUNCTION BY FORMER PENN STATE PRESIDENT GRAHAM SPANIER TO STOP HIS CRIMINAL PROSECUTION. SPANIER ACCUSES FORMER JERRY SANDUSKY CASE PROSECUTOR FRANK FINA OF VIOLATING HIS DUE-PROCESS RIGHTS THROUGH THE GRAND JURY INVESTIGATION. HE CLAIMS HE THOUGHT FORMER PENN STATE GENERAL COUNSEL CYNTHIA BALDWIN WAS REPRESENTING HIM. KANE SAYS SHE WILL RESPOND SOON WITH A LEGAL MEMO CITING CASE LAW. SPANIER, TIM CURLEY, AND GARY SCHULTZ HAVE ALL ASKED THE JUDGE TO DISMISS THE CHARGES AGAINST THEM.
