A DRIVE-BY SHOOTING SUNDAY NIGHT IN THE 2-THOUSAND BLOCK OF NORTH TUCKAHOE ROAD IN BELLWOOD…AND NOW THE GUNMAN HAS TURNED HIMSELF IN. 36 YEAR OLD DAVID CHERRY OF BLANDBURG SAYS HE WAS ASSAULTED AFTER USING A TARGET RANGE WITH THE GRANDSON OF GEORGE AND DOROTHY HARPER…SO HE WENT HOME AND GOT A GUN, THEN FIRED 5 SHOTS INTO THEIR HOUSE. LUCKILY, NO ONE WAS INJURED. POLICE SAY CHERRY HAD ALSO BEEN SENDING THREATENING TEXT MESSAGES. HE IS JAILED PENDING HIS PRELIMINARY HEARING.

A BRUSH FIRE AT ALTOONA’S HORSESHOE CURVE NATIONAL HISTORIC LANDMARK DELAYED TRAINS AND KEPT FIREFIGHTERS BUSY YESTERDAY AFTERNOON. FIRE DESTROYED A HOUSE ON THE 800 BLOCK OF OAK STREET IN JOHNSTOWN’S HORNERSTOWN SECTION EARLY WEDNESDAY MORNING. FIRE CREWS WERE WORRIED THE FLAMES WOULD SPREAD TO THE HOUSE NEXT DOOR, SO THE FAMILY GOT ALL 10 OF THEIR DOGS AND 3 CATS SAFELY OUT. FIREMEN WERE ABLE TO CONTAIN THE FIRE TO THE FIRST HOUSE AND NO ONE WAS INJURED.

FIRE GUTTED THE KITCHEN OF A HOUSE IN NORTHERN CAMBRIA LAST EVENING. THERE WAS ALSO SOME DAMAGE TO THE LIVING ROOM, AND THE ENTIRE HOME HAD SEVERE HEAT AND SMOKE DAMAGE. AUTHORITIES SAY SOMEONE WAS COOKING ON THE STOVE WHEN THE FLAMES BROKE OUT.

FIRE CAUSED MAJOR DAMAGE TO A HOME ON MAIN STREET IN BRADY TOWNSHIP, HUNTINGDON COUNTY, WEDNESDAY NIGHT. FIRE CREWS SAY 2 PEOPLE WERE HOME AT THE TIME, BUT WERE NOT HURT. THE CAUSE OF THE BLAZE IS UNDER INVESTIGATION.

IN BEDFORD COUNTY COURT YESTERDAY, 24 YEAR OLD ALLEN CARL OF EVERETT WAS ORDERED TO STAND TRIAL ON CHARGES INCLUDING HOMICIDE BY VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE. POLICE SAY CARL WAS INTOXICATED IN JUNE WHEN HIS PICKUP VEHICLE CROSSED THE CENTRE LINE OF ROUTE 30 IN EAST PROVIDENCE TOWNSHIP AND SLAMMED INTO A CAR DRIVEN BY 64 YEAR OLD HERB KAISAMORE OF BEDFORD. A TRIAL DATE HAS NOT BEEN SET.

32 YEAR OLD JONATHAN KUZMA OF JOHNSTOWN PLEADED GUILTY IN THE BRUTAL BEATING AND STABBING DEATH OF HIS FATHER, JOHN, LAST YEAR …BUT THE PROSECUTION AND DEFENSE COULDN’T AGREE ON THE DEGREE OF MURDER. YESTERDAY, A CAMBRIA COUNTY JUDGE RULED THAT IT WAS 3RD DEGREE MURDER AND NOT FIRST. KUZMA SAYS HE WAS ANGRY BECAUSE HIS FATHER WOULDN’T GIVE HIM THE CAR KEYS TO GO TO A METHADONE CLINIC. HE ALSO ADMITTED STEALING THE CAR AND MONEY AFTER THE MURDER. KUZMA WILL BE SENTENCED SEPTEMBER 9TH.

ZACHARY ANDREWS WAS KILLED IN JOHNSTOWN BACK IN APRIL…AND NOW A WOMAN IS FACING CHARGES. 20 YEAR OLD TASHALE BOYKO WAS IN THE GROVE AVENUE HOUSE WHEN ANDREWS WAS SHOT TO DEATH. WHEN INTERVIEWED BY POLICE, SHE REPORTEDLY GAVE SEVERAL DIFFERENT STORIES…SO POLICE CHARGED HER WITH HINDERING AND OBSTRUCTING ADMINISTRATION OF LAW. OFFICIALS ALSO THEY BELIEVE BOYKO DROVE ANOTHER VICTIM TO THE HOSPITAL. RIGHT NOW, NO ONE IS CHARGED IN THE MURDER.

CLEARFIELD BORO COUNCIL MEMBER RICHARD STEWART IS FACING CHARGES INCLUDING ASSAULT, TERRORISTIC THREATS, DISORDERLY CONDUCT, AND HARASSMENT. POLICE SAY HE’S ACCUSED OF BEATING HIS GIRLFRIEND AND THREATENING TO KILL HER LATE TUESDAY NIGHT. STEWART ADMITS THERE' WAS AN ALTERCATION, BUT HE SAYS THE CHARGES ARE FALSE. A PRELIMINARY HEARING IS SCHEDULED NEXT WEEK AND STEWART IS FREE ON BOND.

ABOUT 3 HOURS LATER, 3 YEAR OLD ADELIA WEBSTER’S BAG WAS RETURNED TO HER ALONG WITH ITS CONTENTS…A BLANKIE, DOLLS, STUFFED ANIMALS, AND OTHER ITEMS. POLICE SENT OUT A THANK YOU TO THE PERSON WHO PICKED UP THE BAG AND TURNED IT IN.
