HUNTERS DIE IN THE WOODS

CLEARFIELD COUNTY AUTHORITIES HAVE RELEASED THE NAMES OF 2 MEN WHO DIED WHILE DEER HUNTING MONDAY. 68 YEAR OLD REX FINK OF CLEARFIELD SUFFERED A HEART ATTACK WHILE DRAGGING A DEER FROM THE WOODS. HE WAS REPORTED MISSING AROUND 8:30 ON MONDAY NIGHT AND WAS FOUND BY THE LAWRENCE TOWNSHIP FIRE DEPARTMENT LATER THAT SAME EVENING. 62 YEAR OLD ANTHONY ONUFER OF MECHANICSBURG WAS FOUND DEAD UNDER A TREE STAND NEAR KARTHAUS.

THREATS ON THANKSGIVING

LOGAN TOWNSHIP POLICE SAY 29 YEAR OLD BENJAMIN MCCLOSKEY OF VIRGINIA WAS ARRAIGNED THIS WEEK ON CHARGES INCLUDING AGGRAVATED ASSAULT. HE ALLEGEDLY PULLED A KNIFE AND THREATENED TO KILL HIS FAMILY ON THANKSGIVING DAY AT HIS PARENTS’ HOUSE ON MCCLOSKEY LANE. POLICE THINK MCCLOSKEY MAY HAVE BEEN UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF DRUGS OR ALCOHOL. FAMILY MEMBERS HELD HIM UNTIL POLICE ARRIVED. A PRELIMINARY HEARING IS SET FOR DECEMBER 19TH.

POLICE CHASE SUSPECTS IN COURT

IN BEDFORD COUNTY COURT YESTERDAY, 17 YEAR OLD COREY CLINGERMAN OF EVERETT WAIVED HIS PRELIMINARY HEARING. HE’S ACCUSED OF LEADING POLICE ON A HIGH SPEED CHASE IN PENNSYLVANIA AND MARYLAND ON NOVEMBER 7TH. CLINGERMAN EVENTUALLY CRASHED HIS STOLEN VEHICLE AND SUFFERED CRITICAL INJURIES. HE WAS RELEASED FROM A MARYLAND HOSPITAL NOVEMBER 21ST AND LOCKED UP IN THE BEDFORD COUNTY PRISON ON 50-THOUSAND DOLLARS BOND.

IN BLAIR COUNTY TODAY, A PRELIMINARY HEARING IS SCHEDULED FOR 22 YEAR OLD CHELSEA EMERICK OF JEROME, SOMERSET COUNTY. LAST MONTH, SHE LED FREEDOM TOWNSHIP POLICE OFFICERS ON A HIGH SPEED CHASE UNTIL SHE WAS ARRESTED ALONG I-99. COPS SAY EMERICK WAS UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF DRUGS WHEN THEY TRIED TO STOP HER ON DUNNINGS HIGHWAY. SHE IS IN THE COUNTY PRISON ON 30-THOUSAND DOLLARS BAIL.

1 MAN/2 D-U-I ARRESTS

48 YEAR OLD JAY LEBLANC OF BELLEFONTE WAS ARRESTED ON D-U-I CHARGES TWICE WITHIN 2 HOURS LAST FRIDAY NIGHT AND SATURDAY MORNING. POLICE SAY AN OFFICER SAW HIS PICKUP TRUCK BUMP ANOTHER CAR WHILE PARKING AND HE WAS BOOKED. AFTER THE COPS LET HIM GO, LEBLANC WAS SEEN DRIVING ERRACTICALLY ALONG EAST BISHOP STREET AND HE WAS BUSTED AGAIN.

SPIRIT OF CHRISTMAS PARADE

MORE THAN 70 UNITS WILL PARTICIPATE IN TONIGHT’S ANNUAL “SPIRIT OF CHRISTMAS” PARADE IN DOWNTOWN ALTOONA. SANTA CLAUS WILL BE THERE AND REPRESENTATIVES FROM LOCAL FOOD BANKS WILL COLLECT NON-PERISHABLE GOODS BEFORE THE PROCESSION. THE MARINE CORPS WILL ALSO BE COLLECTING UNWRAPPED TOYS FOR THEIR “TOYS FOR TOTS” PROGRAM. THE PARADE STARTS AT 6 AT 9TH STREET AND GREEN AVENUE. AFTERWARDS THE COMMUNITY CHRISTMAS TREE WILL BE LIT IN HERITAGE PLAZA AND FIREWORKS WILL BE SET OFF.
