PENN STATE IS STRONGLY DENYING CLAIMS MADE IN A Sports Illustrated article THAT CHARGES THAT MEDICAL STAFF FOR THE FOOTBALL TEAM HAVE LESSENED CARE FOR PLAYERS. THE ARTICLE CLAIMS THE CHANGE WAS PROMPTED BY FINANCIAL CONCERNS…AND ALLEGES A LONG-TIME FEUD BETWWEEN Athletic DIRECTOR DR. DAVE JOYNER AND FORMER TEAM PHYSICAN WAYNE SEBASTIANELLI WHO STILL OVERSEES MEDICAL CARE FOR ALL SPORTS TEAMS AS THE DIRECTOR OF ATHLETIC MEDICINE. PENN STATE OFFICIALS, JOYNER, AND HEAD COACH BILL O’BRIEN ALL DENY THE ACCUSATIONS. O’BRIEN SAYS HE DECIDED TO CHANGE THE TEAM’S MEDICAL CARE AFTER A YEAR-LONG EVALUATION AND THAT PLAYERS CONTINUE TO RECEIVE TOP NOTCH CARE. ORTHOPEDIC CONSULTANT DR. SCOTT LYNCH AND DR. PETER SEIDENBERG REPLACED SEBASTIANELLI as football team physican THIS SPRING. the story also says Current athletic trainer Tim Bream provided players anti-inflammatory drugs, and treatments he’s not qualified to perform. officials say those claims were investigated, but there was no substantial evidence.

LAWYERS HAVE 3 WEEKS TO REPLACE THE NAMES WITH INITIALS OR OTHER NON-IDENTIFYING REFERENCES. DURING SANDUSKY’S TRIAL, JUDGE JOHN CLELAND RULED THAT THE VICTIMS HAD TO USE THEIR REAL  NAMES ON THE WITNESS STAND.

POLICE SAY SHE USED SCARVES TO HOG-TIE HER UNRULY 5 YEAR OLD GRANDSON IN MARCH OF LAST YEAR. HIMES ENTERED A NO CONTEST PLEA TO CHARGES OF ENDANGERING THE WELFARE OF A CHILD AND SIMPLE ASSAULT. THE BOY HAS BEEN PLACED IN FOSTER CARE.

A VERY BIZARRE BURGLARY IN CENTRE COUNTY. STATE POLICE SAY SOMEONE ENTERED A TRAILER ALONG SOUTH EAGLE VALLEY ROAD IN JULIAN AND STOLE 13 BALL PYTHON MORPH SNAKES VALUED AT APPROXIMATELY 30-THOUSAND DOLLARS. 8 PREGNANT FEMALES WERE TAKEN ALONG WITH 5 MALES. THE THIEF ONLY TOOK THE MOST EXPENSIVE SNAKES. IT HAPPENED BETWEEN TUESDAY NIGHT AND WEDNESDAY MORNING. ANYONE WITH INFORMATION SHOULD CALL TROOPERS AT 342-33-70.

GEORGE HIMES THE 4TH AND SHEENA MEYERS OF 2214 8TH AVENUE ALTOONA ARE FACING 3 MISDEMEANOR COUNTS OF CHILD ENDANGERMENT. THE ALTOONA MIRROR SAYS POLICE OFFICERS WENT TO THE HOME AND FOUND IT FILLED WITH GARBAGE, FECES, AND FLIES. AN AUTISTIC CHILD, BETWEEN 2 AND 3 YEARS OLD, WAS FOUND COVERED IN HUMAN FECES. THE CHILDREN HAVE BEEN TURNED OVER TO A FAMILY MEMBER AND THE HOUSE CONDEMNED. A PRELIMINARY HEARING IS SCHEDULED WEDNESDAY.

BLAIR COUNTY COMMISSIONERS VOTED THIS SPRING TO SELL VALLEY VIEW NURSING HOME AND THE SALE IS SET TO BE FINALIZED ON MAY 31ST. RELIANT SENIOR CARE OF PHILADELPHIA WILL BECOME THE HOME’S OPERATOR ON JUNE 1ST.

school district looking to make cuts

the hollidaysburg area school board last night approved a 43-point-7 millionn dollar no-tax increase budget for the coming school year. it includes a deficit of about 457-thousand dollars and administrators will continue to look for more ways to cut costs. it looks like several teaching positions will be eliminated. a final spending plan is due by june 30th.
