TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 10, 2013 COP IN TROUBLE A BUS DRIVER TELLS THE ALTOONA MIRROR THAT ALTOONA POLICE OFFICER MATTHEW PLUMMER WAS WITH A BUSLOAD OF COPS AND 911 DISPATCHERS WHEN HE ALLEGEDLY PUNCHED A MAN IN THE MOUTH AT THE KID ROCK/ZZ TOP CONCERT OUTSIDE OF PITTSBURGH. PLUMMER SPENT ABOUT 2 HOURS IN THE WASHINGTON COUNTY JAIL BEFORE HE WAS FREED ON BAIL. HE’S CHARGED WITH AGGRAVATED ASSAULT. OTHER PASSENGERS TOLD POLICE SOMETHING STRUCK THE BUS, THEN THEY SAW A MAN EXPOSING HIS BACKSIDE. OFFICERS SAY PLUMMER CONFRONTED THE MAN WHO THREW A PUNCH, BUT MISSED. THAT’S WHEN PLUMMER HIT HIM, CAUSING THE MAN TO FALL TO THE GROUND, BLEEDING FROM THE MOUTH. NO COMMENT YET FROM POLICE CHIEF JANICE FREEHLING OR MAYOR BILL SHIRF, BUT CITY COUNCIL IS SCHEDULED TO HOLD AN EXECUTIVE SESSION TONIGHT. LAWMAKER’S FUNERAL TODAY STATE REPRESENTATIVE DICK HESS OF BEDFORD COUNTY WILL BE BURIED TODAY IN SAXTON. HE DIED FRIDAY AT A PITTSBURGH HOSPITAL FOLLOWING COMPLICATIONS FROM LEG SURGERY. THE SUSPECT WAS WEARING WHITE SHORTS, A SWEAT SHIRT TURNED INSIDE OUT APPEARING TO BE WHITE AND BLACK HIGH TOP SNEAKERS.
