INMATE ARRESTED FOR MAKING THREATS

HOLLIDAYSBURG POLICE SAY FORMER NATIONAL GUARD MEMBER 23 YEAR OLD ADAM HARDIN OF CLAYSBURG IS THE ONE WHO EMAILED BOMB THREATS AGAINST THE BLAIR COUNTY COURTHOUSE OCTOBER 23RD PROMPTING AN EVACUATION. HE’S ALSO ACCUSED OF EMAILING A THREAT ABOUT THE HOLLIDAYSBURG WATER SUPPLY WHICH MEANT A WEEKEND WITHOUT WATER FOR RESIDENTS AND MANY LOCAL BUSINESSES WHO LOST TENS OF THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS BECAUSE THEY HAD TO CLOSE. HARDIN WAS IN THE BLAIR COUNTY JAIL ON A NUMBER OF CHARGES WHEN HE ALLEGEDLY USED HIS MILITARY COMPUTER TRAINING TO HACK THE PRISON’S INTERNET SECURITY SYSTEM. HARDIN’S PRELIMINARY HEARING IS SET FOR TUESDAY. HE REMAINS IN THE BLAIR COUNTY PRISON ON 250-THOUSAND DOLLARS BAIL. BLAIR COUNTY COMMISSIONER TERRY TOMASSETTI SAYS THE PRISON HAS ALREADY UPGRADED ITS SECURITY.

FATAL WRECKS

A DEADLY CRASH LAST NIGHT ON SOUTH EAGLE VALLEY ROAD IN THE PORT MATILDA AREA OF CENTRE COUNTY. STATE POLICE SAY A WOMAN WAS KILLED WHEN A TANKER TRUCK AND CAR COLLIDED AROUND 9PM. THE VICTIM’S NAME HAS NOT YET BEEN RELEASED AND POLICE AREN’T SURE IF THE ACCIDENT WAS WEATHER-RELATED DUE TO YESTERDAY’S SNOW. MORE SNOW SHOWERS ARE FALLING THIS MORNING.

CAMBRIA COUNTY AUTHORITIES HAVE IDENTIFIED THE WOMAN WHO DIED IN A WRONG-WAY CRASH ON ROUTE 219 MONDAY EVENING. 71-YEAR-OLD NANCY CONNOR OF EBENSBURG CRASHED INTO A PICKUP WHILE DRIVING SOUTH IN THE NORTHBOUND LANES NEAR THE SOUTH FORK EXIT. THE WOMAN DRIVING THE TRUCK, 36 YEAR OLD STACIE GRIFFITHS OF EBENSBURG, SUFFERED SEVERE INJURIES AND HER 2 PASSENGERS…A 6 YEAR OLD GIRL AND A 3 YEAR OLD BOY…HAD MINOR INJURIES. POLICE SAY DRUGS AND ALCOHOL WERE NOT A FACTOR. CONNOR’S CAR ALSO HIT A 3RD CAR AND THAT DRIVER HAD MINOR INJURIES.

TEENAGER CHARGED WITH HOMICIDE BY VEHICLE

18 YEAR OLD SUSAN SCHEZZINI OF ALTOONA WAS ARRAIGNED YESTERDAY ON HOMICIDE BY VEHICLE AND OTHER CHARGES. BACK IN JULY, HER CAR CRASHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE ON KETTLE ROAD IN TYRONE TOWNSHIP, KILLING HER BACKSEAT PASSENGER, 18 YEAR OLD JORDAN DODSON OF ALTOONA. 2 FEMALE PASSENGERS WERE ALSO HURT. THE OTHER DRIVER, 26 YEAR OLD KAYLEE HARPER OF TYRONE, SUFFERED A FOOT INJURY, BUT HER YOUNG SONS WERE IN CARSEATS AND ESCAPED INJURY. POLICE SAY SCHEZZINI WAS SPEEDING AND DRIVING RECKLESSLY. THE ALTOONA MIRROR REPORTS THAT A PRELIMINARY HEARING IS SET FOR DECEMBER 10TH.

TODDLER ON THE TRACKS

FOLLOWING A PRELIMINARY HEARING YESTERDAY, 30 YEAR OLD CHY PETERMAN OF BLANDBURG WAS ORDERED TO TRIAL ON CHILD ENDANGERMENT CHARGES. BACK IN SEPTEMBER, PETERMAN’S 19 MONTH OLD SON WANDERED AWAY AND WENT TO THE RAILROAD TRACKS IN FOSTORIA. A MAN PASSING BY SAW A TRAIN APPROACHING AND PULLED THE TODDLER OFF THE TRACKS. THE CASE COULD MOVE FORWARD EARLY NEXT YEAR.

STUDENT’S RAPE TRIAL WINDING DOWN

SAINT FRANCIS UNIVERSITY STUDENT 19 YEAR OLD KALIL WYNN OF NEW JERSEY IS ON TRIAL IN BLAIR COUNTY COURT, ACCUSED OF RAPING A PENN STATE ALTOONA STUDENT LAST NOVEMBER AT THE NITTANY POINTE APARTMENTS. WYNN CLAIMS THE SEX WAS CONSENSUAL. HIS TRIAL SHOULD WRAP UP TODAY.

SUPPORT FOR GOVERNOR

GOVERNOR TOM CORBETT IS SCORING SOME BIG ENDORSEMENTS FOR HIS GUBERNATORIAL CAMPAIGN. THE ENDORSEMENTS BY FORMER GOVERNORS TOM RIDGE AND MARK SCHWEIKER WERE ANNOUNCED YESTERDAY AT A HERSHEY NEWS CONFERENCE. BOTH MEN PRAISED CORBETT'S RESPONSE TO THE PROBLEMS HE INHERITED WHEN HE WON THE ELECTION IN 2010.

CANDIDATE FOR ST. REPRESENTATIVE?

STATE REPRESENTATIVE DICK HESS OF BEDFORD COUNTY DIED FOLLOWING LEG SURGERY IN SEPTEMBER AND NOW THE QUESTION IS WHO WILL REPLACE HIM. LAST NIGHT, THE COUNTY’S REPUBLICAN PARTY BACKED MINISTER JESSE TOPPER OF BEDFORD. REPUBLICANS IN FULTON COUNTY AND PART OF HUNTINGDON COUNTY WILL PROBABLY HAVE THEIR OWN CANDIDATES, BUT TOPPER’S NAME WILL LIKELY APPEAR ON THE BALLOT FOR THE SPECIAL ELECTION SET FOR JANUARY 28TH. AREA DEMOCRATS ARE WORKING TO FIND THEIR CANDIDATE.

LOWER GAS PRICES

ALTOONA DRIVERS ARE STILL PAYING $3.35, BUT TRIPLE A FUEL GAUGE SAYS WESTERN PA GAS PRICES FELL 3 CENTS TO $3.32 THIS WEEK. NATIONALLY, TODAY'S AVERAGE PRICE IS $3.18…THE LOWEST SINCE FEBRUARY 22ND, 2011. IT’S 6 CENTS CHEAPER THAN ONE WEEK AGO…17 CENTS LESS THAN ONE MONTH AGO…AND DOWN 26 CENTS FROM THE SAME DATE LAST YEAR.
