Breaking News 11:14

From the Meadville City Police:

Ashtabula County Sheriff’s detectives assisted by FBI and DEA set up surveillance on a residence located at 469 Route 193 in Jefferson, Ohio, in attempt to locate fugitive Keith Green.  Police said it is not uncommon for a fugitive to go to his or her “support mechanism,” which in this case was Green’s mother’s residence.

At about 8:00 this morning, detectives started trailing Green as he was being transported to a residence at 3220 Route 198, North Kingsville, Ohio, by his 19-year-old brother, Nathaniel Green.  Once the two stopped at the residence, both Greens entered the apartment.  Nathaniel Green then left the residence, leaving Keith behind.

Police said at this time detectives made an approach on the apartment and a foot pursuit ensued throught the woods behind the house.  Green broke into a garage on Hines Road in an attempt to flee the area, but he was approached by an armed property owner, at which time he continued to flee on foot, police said.  Green was apprehended without incident, near a residence on Hines Road.  Nathaniel Green was also arrested for Obstructing Justice.

Green had outstanding warrants and was wanted by the Ashtabula County Sheriff’s Office.  Charges include a Marijuana case, two felony drug trafficking counts, two counts of Aggravated Burglary, felony vandalism and felony theft.

Green had recently caused the lockdown of Allegheny College, in Pennsylvania, when PSP attempted to apprehend him.  He had also been involved in an accident in Conneaut City in which police say he attempted to run over an officer.

Green was also involved in an incident with Brookpark Police, in which he assaulted an officer and was not apprehended.

Thomas Liscinski, Assistant Chief of the Meadville City Police announced this morning that fugitive Keith Green has been captured by Ashtabula County Sheriff’s Deputies, th4e FBI, and DEA.  Liscinski said Ohio authorities acted on information that led them to a home last night:

“The basic information that we have at this point… we haven’t really talked to their investigators yet… we understand they had a lead last night…  They went to that residence.  Another foot pursuit ensued..He went into a wooded area and they spend the night searching for him… They apprehended him shortly after 9 a.m. this morning.”

Liscinski said Green will not face charges from the Meadville Police because they were simply acting on a warrant from Ohio authorities.  Green was wanted for burglary and drug charges and had apparently fired shots at Ohio officers in Conneaut before fleeing to Meadville.

Details are expected later today.
